chevy small block parts are pretty interchangable for the most part. water pumps will fit on any small block, same with alternator power steering pump etc. of course if you go with a 350 or especally a 383 you will not want to use factory exhaust manifolds. the motors mounts on the blocks are interchangable. the one thing you could run into a problem is if you go from the "classic" intake and heads to a Vortec setup then your brackets such as alt may not work then you would have to go with something like a March bracket.
I went from a stock 305 in my Trans Am to a 383 and I put the 305 water pump, and motor mounts on the 383 w/out any problems but my intake was to tall for the 305 alt bracket so I did have to go with the March bracket for that and I had to make one bracket for my power steering pump but I think that was only b/c I went to a vortec head setup. I'm rambling here. in short unless you go with a Vortec setup everything pretty much is inchangable from any chevy small block V8.

Pretty much. The 305 parts aren't necessary hi preformance but they will all physically bolt together.
