numbers on engine block?
i bought a GTA 2 weeks ago and theres a 350ci crate motor in it. thats all the info i could pull out of the guy who sold it to me.
today i was probing around and i saw some nubmers written on the block with a bright green marker.
ther numbers are 350 and then under them is 21377
do those nubmers mean anything? i want to try and get some info outta this block... thanks

hmm those numbers depend on what company sold/installed the motor. only they will know, probably just inventory numbers since its just marker. best way to figure out info on the block are to find the engine stamping numbers and such. If you get those then im sure people here can help you break them down to figure out exactly what you got. Also, you can tell estimated years of engines by type of heads(centerbolt/perimeter), oil dipstick location, and other little stuff...i know other people here will be able to help you more

Look in the rear of the block on the driver side you will see some numbers, which would aid in identifing the block:
Look at this block below see where it says GM, then you see the numbers (330817), thats where you need to look, then go to mortec web-site and find your block.

thanks, ill have a look when i get a chance
edit: oh and the guy also claimed that the engine was 350hp which sounds BS to me, he paid $2,595 for it a year ago.
