Help identify this engine please!!!
I am looking for a few people out there who really know these cars. I recently bought a complete engine, wiring harness and ecm from an out of business engine shop.. Here is my problem.. I need to know the specific year or pretty close to it to get correct parts for the engine... Ok to make it eventually run..
This is what I know about the engine: It is a 305 (high out put not sure??)
Block numbers: 14093627.. on the side of the bolck it is stamped 627 The top of the block says GM 5.0LG SGI
The ECM unit's numbers are as follows: 1227165..........869461...M611161247
The valve case covers have the bolts not in the middle but outside of the covers.
The distributer has the "coil" mounted on top...
I am looking to purchase a painless wiring harness and possible a better cam for the engine..
Thanks guys!
Christopher

Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
14093627 is a 1988-1995 305 block. Get the suffix code off the block. It's stamped into the pad in front of the passenger side head.
Talk to your local GM dealer about the ECM numbers.

ah yes , i forgot to mention that part...the casting numbers are on top...under the valve covers, just remove the four bolts and the cover comes off, now is a good time to see how the engine looks in there and to replace valve cover gasket anyway....heres a pic of a 350 head i had laying around off..this is a centerbolt head but gives you the idea, the numbers run along on the inside, im pretty sure its the same with the stampings on your heads. Once you have those numbers, im sure someone can tell you where you can decode them.

1227165 ECU is MAF. Depending on what year car the engine is out of, it is $32, $32b, or $6E code (This doesn't matter unless you are going get into prom programing)
