its harder to do the tpi swap but its more efficient and better for emissions. im doing a v6 to a tpi 350 i pulled out of an 89 iroc. putting it my 92 rs. need the wire loom since it isnt interchangable as well as all the accesories and manifolds. youll need fuel and ac lines also. as well as a whole new exhaust due to different pipe size.

you need a new fuel pump, carb only requires 5-6 psi whereas tpi is in the high 30's. youll also need the intake manifold that is setup for either a two or four barrel depending on what you use. my dads car is an 80 z28 with a 350 bored 30 over and a mild cam with a rochester four barrel, the thing is damn fast. plus he disconnects the AIR pump and there is no a/c.

would a motor out of a old impala or caprice work? those are easy to come by for cheap...can i use v6 motor mounts with the v8? will i need to change my front springs, will it pass inspection?

you could use the motor out of an impala or caprice since the blocks are the same but remeber your going to have to buy all the brackets and pumps specific for the camaro. i know my v6 has a different bracket and pump setup than the 350 iroc did that is why i held out for a junk iroc to use as a donor. im not sure if the mounts are different i know they are in a different place on the frame. yes you have to change the springs unless you dont mind bottoming out around every turn. as for emissions it depends on the year and engine of your car. thats the reason i went for a newer tpi instead of an older carbed engine.
