everything on the engine is disconnected the motor mounts un bolted now where do i go....

first time here swapping a 305 tpi, for a 400

 

Did you take the bell housing bolts off ??
you need to pull the engine toward the front then lift it up this way you do not damage the input shaft.

 

i pulled the trans out with the motor. its easier to do it with the trans off though. other than that, you are ready to go. i would double check just to make sure everything is disconnected.

 

just did this last weekend. it's much easier to remove the tranny from the bellhousing(leave that on the engine). this will get the input shaft out of the way. don't forget to disconnect anything attached to the tranny first. I almost forgot the speedo cable. When pulling the engine make sure all sensors hoses etc are off. I forgot the clutch master cyclinder and had to unbolt it with the engine half way out and hanging from the hoist.

Just go slow and watch for anything that is catching and take pics so you can look back and remember getting rid of the 305.

 

TAKE YOUR TIME IF YOUR DOIN IT BY YOURSELF. I WAS ALL EXCITED AND WORKIN ON IT LIKE NASCAR THEN THE CHAIN HOLDING THE MOTOR SHIFTED AND BROKE STUFF. EXCITEMENT WENT TO 0 AND I DRANK MYSELF TO SLEEP. SO GET SOME FRIENDS OVER THERE TO HELP YOU AND BRIBE THEM WITH BEER AND FOOD IF YOU HAVE TO. GOOD LUCK BRO.

 

ahh, i remember bribing my friends with beer to phisically remove like 7 coats of paint off one of my cars...a 30pack and two drunks have way too much fun with screw drivers and power tools...poor car...oh well
