probs with 350 swap...
probs with 350 swap...
K, the car is a 91 RS 305 w/TBI.
I got a 85 350 motor.
I swapped everything over. I installed the different flywheel, but now my old starter doesn't fit.
Do i need a whole new starter or can I just swap starter housings??
also I noticed that where my oil pressure sensor used to be is not there on the 350 block.. A friend says it by the distrib, but haven't had a chance to check there yet...
also noticed the knock sensor hole isn't there...... Firend said it is just pluged up..Which maybe it is and I just didn't notice it...
I have just about everything done...Just need to adjust my rockers, drop the distrib and set timing, and get a starter bolted to it....

Buy a new starter if it doens't fit. You can't switch the housings.
The hole for the oil pressure sending unit is on the block right behind the intake manifold pointing straight up. It is to the driver's side of the distributor.

Your '91 305 probably had the oil pressure sender in the block right above the oil filter? If you look closely ( hard to do when it's already in the car ) there is more than likely a plug installed in that location in your new 350.......you can remove it or use the location behind the intake, which might be plugged as well.
As for the knock sensor, it installs where normally a drain plug or pipe plug would in the pass side of the block, towards the rear.
The starter from your 91 won't fit, as the 85 engine used a different tooth flywheel than the '91 did. Just go order a starter for a 85 Camaro 305......

Yup it will........
The 86 and prior engines have a different balancer. Alot of people say different, but call GM and get part #'s for both.
You can get a new balancer for cheap.......so it's cheap insurance either way.

k, I'll read into the balancers a bit more I guess..
REad into it some. I used to have a 153 thooth flywheel, the new one is a 168 thooth. There is no way to just replace the nose piece on the 153 starter to make it a 168 starter????
also, is the ESC module the same as an ign. module? Like the piece that bolts to the distrib.....??
