Bigger is always better. Torque is what you want for the street and a longer stroke makes more torque. Seeing that the 400 has a 3.75" storke vs. the 327 with a 3.25" stroke the 400 wins in all aspects. Build the 400 you won't regret it!

I love 327s. I am putting a 327 in my Camaro this summer, You say its from a 66 Vette...If its a Vette motors its probably a L79 327, Which came factory with 375 hp if I remember rightly...I'd say go 327...Only thing is, if its got double hump heads you'll either have to make brackets or something for accesorys..I made my brackets and they turned out real nice...Make you you have new valve seats to run on unleaded also!

The setup I'm building this summer is a 400 block, ported Vortecs, XE274 cam, Performer RPM intake, 10:1 cr. That motor is going to pull hard. I have to try and kill some low end power so I can keep some traction and to save my tranny and rearend till I upgrade them.

A stock 400 was a wimpy motor for go-fast kinda cars, because it had a tiny 2bbl carb and only 180hp. However, they made an a$$load of torque... with a good 4bbl, a better cam and some headers, i dont think 350hp would be too hard to get to.
