1987 to 1967 motor swap problems?

Give'em to me....I'm sure there are some, I;ve been told the motor mounts are the same when going from 305 to 350. It's a late 60's HO block. I think I have the 87'+ rear main seal but I have no idea what this means.

don't think there was a HO engine back then. bolt holes in the heads would be missing, dip stick would be on the other side, flywheel/flex plate from your engine wouldn't work. might have breather near the china wall. basically it's the same and will bolt up.

well, im almost 100% sure it's a 1967 4 bolt main 350 block, custom built to put out 400HP, i figured it would be easier to type HO then all that. it's a complete engine, from carb to oil pan already built and has 40k miles on it from when it was in another car

bolt holes on head missing?

flywheel flex plate? i how to i fix that? what type would i buy?

by "bolt holes on head missing" he meant that the '67 wouldn't have bolt holes on the head for the accessory brackets

You will need a flywheel made for 86 or earlier for the correct bolt pattern. Get the right size. 153 tooth or 168 tooth. Then you're starter will work too. Everything else fits. Exept if you are missing holes for the accessory brackets.

Well I hate to break it to you but the 350 didn't come with 4 bolt mains until 1969, so either your block is newer than you think or you have a 2 bolt main (not a big deal though, I kind of prefer a 2 bolt, less weight ). Check the casting numbers to find out for sure.

The swap is do able but you made need to fabricate some accecery brackets (the missing bolt holes on the head). Also 40K is a lot of miles for a 400HP 350c.i. I know when I build a 400+HP engine the life is expected to be around 10K, (I mean who the hell builds a 400HP engine and doesn't beat it?). I would pass on that engine unless you can get it for a few hundred bucks.

Good Luck, Garrett

Yea, you'd be missing the accesory bolt holes in the head for the alternator and stuff, but there may be a way to mount it up like it was originally for that motor... on the waterpump. I dunno for sure though.
