Engine Questions

OK guys I need alot of advice. I have a 91 RS with the V8 TBI automatic. THe engine is in desperate need of a rebuild or swap. I have thought out the engine rebuild plan but everyone says I shoud ld just "through in" a 350.
This is where I am skeptical because it can't be as easy as everyone says. What about the bolt pattern on the 700R4 tranny. Will it be the same on all 350s, or do I have to pick one up from the 80s. I rebuild kit would be cheaper for a 350 but it can't be this easy. What about gas mileage. I want it to be the same or better than what it is now. I plan on keeping the same EFI method but with a new manifold and TBI unit.
Shead some light on my situation for my guys.

a 350 will be pretty much a direct swap

the 700R4 will bolt up to a 350 with out any problems at all.

gas milage wont ever be "great with a V8" but a mild 350 will get decent gas milage i think

Yes, a 305-350 is a pretty simple swap. It just the little details that can be a bitch, like a fan switch or knock sensor (for old blocks that didn't have them).
