Depending on what you are looking for. We've got a Keith Black B1 headed motor for sale for 12500 complete pan to carb. Makes 800hp on motor, 1200hp on single stage and 1400hp with the second stage. Motor was just freshened.
Pics of the motor are on my site at www.koolmeister.com
The reason for selling is we switched to a BAE Mike Janis www.jancen.com built 526 hemi for this year. Pics of the new setup are at www.insanityracing.com

Do you have money to burn? If so, check out GM's new Ram Jet ZL1, limited edition fuel injected ZL1 454. I didn't find it on their web site, but it is listed in the latest performance parts catalog. Here's what the catalog says:
"With only 200 planned for production, the Ram Jet ZL1 is sure to be a highly sought item....
"The ZL1 makes serious power, with 520 horsepower on tap thanks to 10.2 to 1 compression ratio...
"The Ram Jet ZL1 uses GMPP's RAm Jet fuel injection originally introduced on the Ram Jet 502.
BTW. the torque rating isn't far behind the horsepower at 493.
Needless to say, there is no price listed. Your dealer will be happy to gouge you for every penny on this one.

Yeah, definetly don't have money to burn (yet). Anyways, I intend to build my own engine, that way I know it is done right...and if not , I have nobody to blame but my self. 520 out of a 454 sounds a little low. If it was assembled correctly, with the right attention to parts prep and oiling efficiency, there should be no reason why they couldn't top 600hp and still run on pump gas. Sounds fishy to me. Just my $.02

Well the most obvious benefit is weight...the ZL1 427 BBC that I am looking at weighs only 110lbs(block only). This will help with the fornt/back weight distribution. I think that one draw back of aluminum is a lower Thermal efficiency percentage but I'm not totally sure on that one. All in all, aluminum will lower your power to weight ratio, which in turn makes your car faster.
As I said in another thread; an aluminum block on our cars will lighten up the front end which is good for autocross. This reduces understeer while cornering, not to mention lowering weight to give the tires an easier time finding grip.
The engine that comes stock in our cars is cast iron which is good for drag racing because you don't really have to worry about how much weight is on the front wheels. In drag racing you can stuff the biggest engine you can between the tires and maximize weight transfer for a good lauch. In autocross an almost 50/50 front/back side/side weight didtribution and almost no wieght transfer is necessary for good handling characteristics.
A bit long winded but I hope this helps
