looking for good mechanic in new york

i need someone who is in new york an hour from me hear in Cairo or poughkeepsie or new paltz who can take my engine out and put it back in once it is done i also need this person to tune it when its in and hook up my exhaust once its in which requires welding the y-pipe and bolt up the 3" cat exhaust.i am offering 500.00 if someone wants to make some money email me.i may also have some other small odds and ends that have to be done i would offer more but this is all i have left in the budget.

well why do you want the engine pulled? because i know of a few mechanics in my area that might be able to help, but it depends on what reason you want it pulled.

btw: what ever happened to racing me? lol

yea thats cool, its supposed to get warm again this week i think. i'm still interested in the 2 1/2 exhaust, but i already have a muffler, but i could get my friend to buy it off me. again, try al's auto they might be able to do some of the work, if not theres another performance place right down the street from it. theres also a place on rt. 9 that just opened next to wendy's.

i dont think your muffler will work it has to fit the 2 1/2" intermidiate pipe and mines a flowmaster. those guys your talking about wont do the job for the what im willing to pay i need someone who can do it for 500.00 bucs bro thats all i can spare.see if you can find someone to do for that price that would be cool.hey when i was down their that weekend some dude came up to me in his acura integra 94-95 or so with his fart muffler he tried to race me at the light my friend was in the car he was reving the **** out of that thing i gave like half pedal and dusted him it was funny he came up to the next light and i said dude you need to go get a trans am and get rid of that thing he said oh im gonna get a v-tech motor for it i laughed and said i will still dust you lol.

lol at the *****. but as for the muffler, i have an 80 series on there 2.5 in and out, i just have some stupid little adapters on it to make it fit 2 1/4 pipes, as for the engine my friend might be able to help you out with some of that stuff, but it'd be better if we all talked about it in person.

BTW: i just raced some dude in a 1st gen eclipse or talon with an exhaust, turbo, and blow off valve, i ripped him outta the hole, but when he spooled up he got 1/2 a car on me... not bad for me being stock and him modded.

hells yea, third gens are the best looking cars around. i can't wait to get a tpi setup and actually make it fast. theres a junkyard that has the whole tpi setup off of an 89 or 90 iroc-z and he only wants 250 for it. i'll be getting that soon b/c i have about 180 coming in tax returns and my friend owes me 100 from a bet i made with him

well trans tech ses it only helps 1,2 shift and 3,4 shift but i see a diffrence in every shift, your problem is most likely your clutches dude you better look for another tranny.

well i dont think i need a new tranny. it doesnt slip massively or anything just a little if u give it like 1/4 throttle, but any more and any less it shifts like a beauty from 2 to 3.

EDIT: i've also heard that the trans go shift kit or shift improver.. whatever it is, i've heard that that also fixes that problem. i guess that the 700-r4's have been known for a soggy 2 - 3 shift.

have you treid adjusting your TV cable it sounds like that may be the problem or the cable could be stretched out.

no, i haven't tried adjusting it... i have no damn clue on how to, and i dont wanna **** anything up by trying. maybe sometime we could get together and you can show me how to do so. i'm mechanically inclined right now, i'm working on learning as much as possible especially in the hands on area.

well yours sound like its ok i would have to drive it to know but what the TV cable does is set your shift points you can make it shift early or later mine i have it early a bit so i can get into second quicker its nice that way with b&M shift kit and the corvette servo.your maybe diffrent you might want it to shift a little later i would have to drive it to know or just ride in it.

yea actually it shifts at like 1200 - 1500 going 1 - 2 at normal driving and like 1500 - 2000 from 2 - 3. and yea i'll have to let you drive my car sometime so you can see for yourself. and also it doesnt seem to slip so much from 2 - 3 when the car is cold, seems to be more noticable once it reaches regular temp.

oh aright lol. thanks for the tip. but we still need to get together sometime soon and check out each others cars. i've only been in a car witha 350 once and that was a 89 trans am GTA that i went to look at not too long ago for my friend. lol that thing scared the **** outta me when the guy punched it... but then again he was a hick so that coulda been a part of the reason lol. also i think my knock sensor might be bad, cuz it seems like i lose some power once my car warms up, and it also starts to ping when it warms up cuz i've heard that a bad knock sensor can retard the timing aka causing pinging. but i also need a new egr valve too. stupid emissions and computer stuff lol.

EDIT: since i've used some octane booster though, i dont really notice a ping anymore, and thats on top of using 93 octane gas.

yes we definitly gotta get together i might come down this weekend maybe saturday.about the knock sensor have your mechanic loosen it if they are to tight they will pick up any noise so could be simple if not just replace it.dude do yourself a favor take all that emissions stuff off and leave it off.i will take you for a ride in mine lets see if its as fast *** the other one you rode in.

i'd take off the emissions stuff but i don't have the "hookups" so i most likely wouldnt pass inspection. and i could definitely tell that the gta was faster than my car... seeing as it spun tire half way through 2nd and that was on brand new tires that the guy had just bought, but then again the roads were kinda sandy from the weather. i'm lucky to chirp on dry level pavement... damn tbi, o well tpi is coming soon heh.

what do you mean hookups? noone checks for emissions here they never did for me down their either its east to get a inspection.my car smkes the tires in first and then chirps second on dry pavement with new tires i have on and i could just tap the brake punch it and spin all day lol.

well he's just selling the entire tpi setup for 250. i'm sure he has a radio... but what's eq? i could check for a fog light too. but you know where a good place to go is... mults they had trans ams there and i know for a fact that they had the fog lights and a radio from a trans am.

EDIT: i know they had trans ams b/c they had an 89 with the tpi setup but the guy was a *** and would only sell me the entire engine for 400 depending on how it runs... wtf do i need a whole other 305 for... that one had 105k on it i only have 85k on my engine.
