Will this block work?

I've got a 72 350 block and heads that I want to put into my TA. The heads have no holes for the accessories. Will heads from any year 350 work on this block? I'm also assuming that the trannie, etc will bolt up OK. Is this a proper assumption?

I'm assuming its a Pontiac 350. Yes... any heads from 69 and up will interchange.

I'm talking about my 85 TA. I'd love to have a TA that would normally have a Pontiac 350 though!

If it's a Pontiac block, it WON'T work in the car. At least not without a great deal of extra effort and money.

An older Chevrolet 350 will work. However, the oil dipstick will be on the driver's side, and will have to go RiGHT THROUGH THE MIDDLE of the exhaust manifold, so that won't work unless you either use headers, or the oil pan that came in 78 & 79 A & G bodies with 305s.

Any SBC heads will bolt up to it, even LT1 heads; but those will have other issues all their own.

Since your car is a 85, your flex plate or flywheel is the older style, and will bolt right up to that crank.

Yep, it's HITHERE SBC out of HITHERE 72 or so truck. HITHERE haven'y checked but, isn't the smog pump bolted on the block? If so, HITHERE'm thinking HITHERE can't use this block.

What's up with this HITHERE thing HITHERE'm seeing. Is anyone else seeing it on their machine?? Hope HITHERE didn't get HITHERE virus!

The smog pump bolts to the bolt holes that were used as motor mount bolts from 55-57. That block will still have them, don't worry.

It's the ÄÏ virus. HITHERE think it will eventually go away.

Very cool!!! HITHERE just love SBC's! Now another question. HITHERE need to keep it legal as far as smog is concerned. How 'bout some economical suggestions on cams. etc. No complaints about the Corps or anything but there's not too much room for high end hobbies...
