Old 350 Block differences

I have a few old pre TBI 350 blocks laying around I would like to build up to replace my 305 TBI. What are the differences in the old early 70's blocks and the one I want to replace. The knock sensor comes to mind. What else?

No. Rear main seal changed to one-piece in '86. Also different end seal widths out there.

Dip stick changed sides in '79.

The knock sensor didn't affect block design. They just screwed it into the coolant drain hole that's been there since 1955.

So there is no reason I can't use an early modle block and heads?

You just said "blocks" originally.

Heads are a different story. Pre-'68 don't have accessory mounting holes on the ends of the heads. Most '70's heads are pure smog junk. Whether you "can" use them or "should" use them is a different question, though.

Im using HITHERE 1969 block in my 88 Iroc now, besides the obvious like the pan and dipstick, HITHERE did have to find HITHERE place to hook the oil pressure sensor that was near the oil filter. Not sure if TBI's use that or not.
