Help picking out a Cam

ok i just got done doing the motor swap. btu the cam we put in has to much of an overloop and it won't pass the damn sniffer test. so what is the biggest cam i can get. i have edelbrock performer intake, Hooker headers (2055) and the compression has been uped to 9.5:1 this cam will be going into a Chevy 305 with a .030 over bore. i want a cam that will give mid to upper HP. and a choppy idle. but again it HAS to past the sniffer test... any idea's??

P.S. the motor is not computer controled and it is running a Holley 600cfm carb.

Thanks for the help!

I'm afraid those are mutually exclusive - especially in a non-feedback carb setup.

What test does it have to pass?

Is the rest of the emissions eqpt on the car? Specifically, AIR and the cat? It might be a whole lot easier to go that route than to dig into the motor.

What are your cam specs? How bad did it fail? Unfortunately, you will have to ditch the choppy idle to pass emissions.

Becuse you have a carb you will have a few more problems. You may have to re-jet for emissions compliance.
