Crate engine ???'s
What crate engines can I use and keep all my emissions equipment functional?
This is particularly important in my state. I know that if I got an L98 and swapped it for my LB9, that would work. My preference though is to get a crate engine that already has the power I want rather than building up a L98 for a swap.
Any advice is as always appreciated.

I bought the 300 hp 350 crate motor from Autocenter.http://www.goautocenter.com/300hp_tpi_1987-89.htm
It passes smog in CA as a 305, and regularly makes 4.6L Cobras look bad. Over 25k on it since putting it in without any problems.
You'll need a custom chip.

I appreciate the response. I just got done looking at the prices at Desert Performance. Man those are not bad. Definatley in my price range. Thanks alot.
87WS6, what part of texas are you in? As far as I know only the large cities do testing, and they just started in the area surrounding Houston, of which I am unfortunately a part of. I'll worry about the emissions later though, I've got another year before I need to get it inspected.

I'm in Dallas. I don't know anyone in the outlying areas that I can use to "garage" my car to avoid such issues. I was thinking that if the opportunity ever arose where I could get another third gen that was exempt from emissions say a pre 1986 LG4, I would gut it and transfer all my stuff over to it and do the swap in that car. I find though that I like the 1985-1992 F-Bodies to much for that.
So I can just go the emissions compliant route.
