Fuel Lines on a LT1 Swap
Fuel Lines on a LT1 Swap
Can anyone help me out? I need to know how they ran all lines and where the lines ran into? did the two feed lines run into the regulators? where does the return line come out of? I am using braided lines which won't make much of a difference on a where they connect. Help me if you can! I am using braided stainless steel lines, lt1 aeromotive regulator, walbro 255 lph fuel pump, and probably BG fuel filter.

I rodered lines from Lt1 intake.com I also put lines in from a TPI car which are along the drivers side next to the strut housing. The smaller one is for return and the larger one is supply which goes to the regulator on the Lt1 fuel rail.

Return line is next to the feed line,

Return is right off of the regulator, which I don't have installed in that pic.
We ran braided lines on my friends LT1 swap into his 82 Trans Am, looks really good and worked perfectly for our setup.
Is the Aeromotive Regulator the one with 2 in and 1 out?
If it is, you can modify your fuel rail to something like this,

This is a friend of mine's setup.

what size line did you use? I can't get the website to load for some stupid reason
So two lines go into the regulator. one is return and one is feed. and the one line that goes in is the feed?? is that right? I am still a little confused but now I at least know where they all are.

If you are running the AeromotiveLT1 Regulator, then that plugs to the back of the fuel rail and one line runs from that all the way to the tank. The Aeromotive A1000 Regulator has 2 in 1 out, that is what my friends modded fuel rail is running I believe.
For my setup, I am running -6AN braided line from the engine to the hardline on the car for both the feed and return.
I'll take some pics today of one of my other friends' 82 TA with his fuel setup for you.

Pics would be great. I was going to run 6AN from the tank-filter-regulator-fuel rail(s) and then maybe a smaller line from I guess other fuel rail-regulator-ack to tank? LEt me know if that is right.

Here are the -6AN lines entering the Ruel Rail.
This car has the Holley Regulator and it's underneath the Corvette Emblem, you can see part of it sticking out.

The Braided lines on the frame

And the Russell -6AN Fuel Filter,

The fittings above I got from Pure choice I believe.. Do a quick search for LT1 fuel connections and you will find the post by me about them plus the web address..

I routed the line down the drivers side in the stock locations pretty much.. the filter is in the stock Injected location which is a little alcove in the drivers side rear.. easy to spot..
the fuel tank is a fun thing to drop inside you will have the old carbed sender.. if it was a carbed car.. that should be replaced with a tpi sender and walbro 255 in tank pump. all should be pretty much plug and play..

Provided the gas gauge works no need to replace the sender.. The Walbro 255 intank pump is pretty much plug and play all I had to do was change a rubber hose and put hose clamps on it..
Don't know much about the racetronix harness... can't say enough good things about speartech.com though..

is there anyway to test the sender when it is out of the tank? maybe hook a hot and ground up ? You see when I did this I swtiched everything. The car was stripped down to NOTHING. I mean nothing. I am putting 4th gen door panels, 4th gen dash is in, console, 8 point roll cage, enw carpet, new wiring, lt1 engine, braided lines, aftermarket radiator/tranny cooler..literally the whole car is getting redone in cluding the gauges with autometer ultra-lite. so there fore ic an't tel lif the gaug works. i bought the car as a rolling chassis so I don't know if it works or not.
also do you know the size/type of the connectors from the tank to the AN line and the rails to the AN line? I mean like 3/8 to 6 AN line or what? I was going to go ahead and buy them!!!!!!!!

To test the sender, you'll need a bar graph style Ohm meter so that you can see if there is an open part of the wire. A regular meter is a little difficult to read off of.
Hardline feed is 3/8" and return is 5/16".

should be able to test the sender with a multimeter.. zepher is the electronics guy.
The lines are 3/8ths supply and 5/16ths return.. from the sender we used a tubing cutter and then used earls tubing to 6A/N compression fittings..
For the fuel rail go to performanceplumbing.com they have the quick disconnects to 6A/N that I am using.. after that get two twenty foot rolls of aeroquip 6A/N braided line and all the required 6A/N fittings.. if you are going all hose it should be:
1 male 6an 5/16ths compression fitting
1 male 6an 3/8ths compression fitting
2 female 90 degree swivel fitting for the filter connection
1 russel high pressure filter w/male 6an ends
quick disconnects from performanceplumbing.com (aka pure choice)
4 female straight 6an hose fittings
I think that is it..

You can get 2 of the 165056 5/16 to -6 and connect one to the tank and one to the return on the fuel rail if you plan on going braided all the way from front to back.
On my setup, I am going to to use 4 of those connectors, one on the fuel rail, one on the hardline that is near the front of my car, one on the hardline towards the back of the car and one on the fuel tank itself.
Since I have an inline fuel pump, the feed section of my fuel setup is different than yours or J's.
I'll make a mock-up for you of everything you need if you plan on doing it like J's setup with all braided. Let me know.
