It should work, but I don't know that it will bolt up to the transmission in the S-10. I don't know much about S-10's so I don't know what kind of transmission is in there.

i got a 2.8 in my truck and a 3.1 is a 2.8 block with a longer stroke. so i would think the tranns would mount up. i may want to ask. do 2.8 and 3.1 have the same transmissions? i think i was told that i have a T-5 manual tranns.

Good to hear that they weren't trying to rip you off.

Ok, back to the 3.1... Your S10 trans will have no problems bolting up to that engine. it should almost be a direct swap. Yes, a 3.1 is basically a stroked 2.8, if that's what you have in your truck right now, you should have a very easy swap ahead of you.

I know the 4.3's have a special oil pan for the 4x4 trucks, you might need a special oil pan for your application.

yeah the 4X4s have different oil pans. but that's a small problem i can get a used one at a salvage yard. i'm just hoping that i can afford the motor. the guy who bought some parts from on e-bay hasn't paid and if he dosen't i'm kinda screwed. but i hope to get a lot of car repairs in and make up for it. wish me luck on making some money to buy that motor! any help on this non paying guy on e-bay?
