It is possible to swap in the ls1, do a search and you will find some good stuff about it here.

No the tpi intake manifold will not bolt up, the ls1 motor is not like all the older small block chevy's.

I swapping out a 305 TPI/700R4 for a complete 2001 LS1 drivetrain. It's expensive, but it can be done.

thanks for your replies...the reason i asked is because i found a cheap ls1 block and i was curious if it would work... i planned on changing the tbi to a tpi if i were to swap in the ls1. i have a limited budget and i dont think i can afford to change out the drivetrain for the swap...im thinking ill wait untill i need to replace the engine then ill to a swap of some sort...the stock motor has only 56k and the whole car is in mint condition, maybe ill wait till im out of college to do a major mod like a swap and for right now just upgrade the little things for now. thanks again for your help.

TPI won't fit on a LS1, it's a completely different motor. Even if it did, it wouldn't run like a LS1, it would be lame .... like ..... a TPI motor. About 125 HP off of what a LS1 puts out.

A block for LS1 is just about useless without the rest of the motor. Nothing else besides LS1 stuff will bolt up to it. That might have something to do with why it's cheap in the first place.

It's probably alot smarter to drive what you've got, make it as good as it can be, learn how to do stuff, before just yanking a perfectly good motor and swapping it out. Learn about the different engines that are out there, and what they do and how they go together and what fits with what, before you spend any money on anything; otherwise, you'll just end up with a big scrap cast iron (and aluminum) heap and a lawn ornament.
