how much is a good price to have a crank cleaned and .010 taken off the journals ive called numerious places and gotten anything from $40 to $100 dollar price quotes, i dont really have any connections where i live as far as what places are good and which ones are no good and im a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" but i also dont like getting ripped off (not that anyone does) so having said that whats a decent price for this service? thanks in advance

 

My local machine shop wants around $90 to do a standard SBC crankshaft. Somewhere around there is an adequate price. I would imagine that price would be relevant to the size of the crank as well, be it a 4, 6, or 8 cylinder.
