headers/exhaust

hi i have a 383 sbc in the garage about to put in my 92 RS. it puts out around 400HP. do u think that the hooker comp headers would be good enough for an everyday driver, or should i get something else. also what would be the best setup for an exhaust system?
thanks

For that 383 the Hooker long tubes would be a nice setup, I think they're hooker 2210 might want to check them out and see what you think.

hooker wants like 180$ to coat them, could iu buy them and possibly get them coated locally for a better price or is 180$ about what id end up paying?

The 2210 is the super comp series. How much it will cost to coat them is really kind of tough to say. It varies from place to place but $180 sounds about the average for a good job.

I'm pretty sure the difference is the primary size. I think that the Comp series have 1-5/8" and the super comp have 1-3/4".

You don't have to coat them if you don't want to. There are a few advantages to it.

1. They look a lot nicer
2. It reduces the underhood temperatures drastically when you coat them
3. They don't rust, well at least not for a long time depending on how good of a job they do.

lol, I have no idea if you would be mad. You really don't need 1-3/4" headers if the ports on your heads are not that big. I only go them because the ports on my heads were too big for the 1-5/8" headers. If the comp headers would have fit, then I would have gotten them.

Just go with a set that has tubes the same size as your exhaust ports, and you'll be good.
