LT4 cam install questions

I am preparing to drop a LT1 into my 92 RS and am considering an LT4 cam swap. I would like to hear from people who have done this, and I am wondering what else I will need to drop one in. In particular if I will need to use new roller lifters and where everyone bought there's from and prices. Thanks guys.

I have the lt4(hot cam). There are two types of LT4 cams. The LT4 cam that went into the Grand Sport and then there is the "HOT" cam which was not installed into the GS. GM sells a HOT cam kit which includes the cam, 1.6rr, springs, and retainers. I got mine for $500. From what I've read the stock LT1 spring are not strong enough for the LT4 so you would need to replace your stock one. My lifters seen better days so I just replaced them(but they where lt1 OEM).

if used without the 1.6 rockers the Hot cam can be used stock valve springs with no problem. 1.6 rockers however will max out the springs. you can still use them, I just wouldn't do it for very long. I got my Hot cam from Scoggin-Dickey and have loved it ever since, the powerband is incredible.
