How can i make some H.P.???
ok guys, im getting tired of my 305 so right now i just tore down my 350 4 bolt block that i got from a friend and going to have it bored .040 or .060. I was wondering what i can do to the block to put out 350 to 400 HP. Even though i live in Cali emission isnt a big problem so im not worried. If you guys have any input on what i can do to my block to get some HP i would appreciate it. Some help please!! thanks......

Nothing.
It's a block. Blocks don't make HP. Their job is simply to survive, and to transmit the HP that is made elsewhere to the flywheel.
When the time comes to turn it into an engine, we can help. Things like head selection, exhaust, cam choice, intake.... that's where HP is made.
A block is a block as far as HP potential goes. It doesn't matter that the factory put in 3 main caps that have 4 bolts holding them in.
Go at it with the attitude that "emissions don't matter", you'll get yourself a real rude surprise, unless this is a track-only car, or 73 or older.

well heres my 2 cents, get the block decked to 9.0" , this with a head gastket around .028"-.034" thick will give you a really good squish which can get you another 20 lbs of torque easy. use a D dish piston to yeld around 9.5-9.8 :1 compression ratio with VORTECH heads and a rpm manifold with a 600 vacuum secondary and recurved HEI and MSD 6A box. use comp 1.52 magnum roller tip rockers. buy GOOD headers not cheapies, headman or hooker are nice. SLP is rather exspensive, edelbrocks are ok. if emissions are a concern use comp 4X4 cam(they are on a 111* lobe seperation which will help a little) with around 216-224 degrees of duration at .050". if emissions arent a concern use iskidarian cam with 222* duration at .050"(they are ground on a 108* lobe seperation which will bump up your mid and upper RPM torque). this little combo is good for 360-380 H.P. and a good bunch of torque for the street.
