LT1 Swap

I have a V6 Sport Coupe, I threw a rod in it but atliest its nto still a V6 But I found an LT1 For a really good price, and i wanna put it in. How can I tell if my tranny is a 700R4 or not? I also hear I need a POSI rear, is that true, and if so, how much are they? Would I have to replace the driveshaft, tranny, and rear? that would suck... What do I do about wiring and computers and all that. I can get all the wiring for it with it. Does it require special Engine mounts, or just the ones off the 4th gen or just 350? and does it require special exhaust manifolds? Would the stock manifolds fit in there? I can get em for free. If not, what are the cheapest headers that will work?

Thanks!

A. Posi - $100 from SLP
B. D/S, Tranny and Rear will work, but if you're going to mod the motor you might want to consider beefing up the tranny
C. Wiring - https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=176800
D. Engine Mounts- Stock ones from a V8 Third Gen will work

Your trans wont bolt up, its a 60* v6 one, you need a V8 one, preferribly a 4th gen one.

You dont HAVE to have posi, but you're gonna do a lot of 1 wheel wonder burnouts without one.

Your existing tranny and rear will work but an upgrade would be nice.

Use the 3rd gen mounts as is if you dont want a/c, with a/c you have to modify them.

You can use stock V8 3rd gen manifolds and Y pipe, just have another O2 sensor bung added.

Wiring resources are available, if you email me i'll send you all the LT1 diagrams you should need and try to help ya the best i can with it.

Thanks for all your help Today, in about 30 minutes, I am going to go get a V6 86 Sport Coupe for 700, runs great, and is stick. I would upgrade my Green one I have now, but I HATE automatics. I could put the T56 in that, but it would be hard. This one has the clutch and everything...

I would love an LT1, but Till I can afford it better, ill get this one and drive it till i can drop it in. Right now, i Am stuck driving the car you see below, see why I'll settle for a V6

Thanks....

No camaro to drive, and I can only afford a 100 dollar 81 Volvo with 296600 miles. But I got the new camaro yesterday Even a V6 is better than the car that cant go above 65MPH. Click on the link for a sound byte of my new camaro. It is just a V6, but its got no muffler, sounds somewhat nice...

http://www.3gc.net/sounds/ Its the second on the list.

Cause they bolt to the block.

With a/c you have to modify the passenger mount to brace the ac compressor.

With an a/c delete pulley, the bracing mod isnt needed.

d00d if you want a lt1 engine for a decent price goto http://www.tacreationsusa.com/ they have all pullied accessories, pcm, wiring harness, etc. they have without transmission for $1300 and with transmission for automatic for $1950 with everything, and manual for $2500. i'm telling you if you live in florida its even better cause you may be able yo drive there and pick up your engine but if not they'll send it to a buissness with forklift access. i bought a couple of things from them already they came out nice.

what? sorry, i am this guys brother and i am a volvo freak. yes, it's a weird make to get into, but i wanted to have something that not everyone else drives. but not all volvo's are slow, just to warn you. i'll give you one or 2 examples of sick looking fast volvo's. and there are a big group of us boys, too. don't get caught by one.

calm down there bud

Those Volvo's are pretty sweet for what they are, but definitely don't belong here. They crack down pretty quick on non-thirdgen material.
