Impala SS LT1
Impala SS LT1
IS there any difference between the engine, fuel injection, and wiring on a Impala SS with LT1 and 4L60E vs. the LT1 setup on a camaro or firebird. ANd, if so would it make a swap into a third gen firebird any more difficult.

They are basically the same, I am sure. The only differences I can think of is that the f-body's got a better cam and a little more aggressive tuning.
Yeah, I was wondering about the same things. I found a '94 Impala LT1 with only 11,700 miles. Complete motor, no acc. or wiring. What's this thing worth, they want $1700.00 for it.

There are a few differences. These may not be completely correct answers since I'm assuming the Impala and Caprice had the same LT1 setup.
-Iron heads
-Different Wiring (firewall connector) probably a few other things too
-Different accessories bracket
-As said earlier, different cam. I believe the Caprice cam has more duration but less lift.
-Different induction system, had a home base intake silencer. Also a half inch smaller induction tube/MAF.
-Different cooling setup(hose routing, bigger rad)
-Camaro 4L60E has tail shaft housing mounting bolts for torque arm, the caprice one does not.
That is all I can think of for now. The caprice/Impala LT1 can be swapped in. Probably close to the same difficulty.

I'm using the 95 imp lt1 and before it was installed i read(in different websites) that the frame would need to be cut/bent to allow for the a/c unit. Needless to say i didn't have to cut/bent anything. Today i'm running the a/c with the lines.
Just an FYI...
Just an FYI...
no biggie, after the motor was completely assembled(out on the engine stand) then mounted the T5(completely). Then shoved it all in... one shot. After that I installed to power steering lines, cooling lines, gas, etc. But I should have started with the a/c lines first since I had to take apart the whole right side of the engine bay to install the a/c lines. I'm using a/c lines from a 4th gen. and used new washers. My job has taken me from filling in the a/c with 134a but all the lines and stuff are mounted and the 134a conversion is done.
I don't have pics over my winter project. but it's a dream come true.
In sept it was a 305/700/2:73.... today LT1/T5/3:42(the list is in my sign)... totally sweet and well worth it
