you should have two different sets of harneses that looks like one big harness. the harness you want to swap is on the passenger side. the drivers side harnece is just the fues box and dash stuff.

you will have to take all the looms off and untape the wires, then run down all the wires that go to the passenger side. it will come out through the fender and then the firewall. feed the harness from the inside of the car to the outside of the car, two people help when doing this part.

then just run the new harness, start by feeding the harness through the firewall then the wheel well and into the passenger compartment. your tpi ecm will bolt up the same way as your v6 one did, right under the dash.

i have already got the computer one unhooked i just need to know how to get it unhooked from the driverside firewall without cutting it. i looked it over again and its all the same harness that runs from the ecm to the engine and then back into the firewall on the driver side. it looks like the only place it could come apart is on the loom that goes though the firewall. i pulled and tugged a little but it didnt seem to come apart. is there a trick?

there is a little phillips head screw in the rubber deal that holds all the wires into the drivers side. you wont be able to see the screw itself. just look for a little hole and stick a screwdriver in and get it out, there is only one screw.

you said that its two harnesses? i got my 89 harness and theres nothing on it that looks like it goes into the driverside firewall. i am stumped. i have 17 wires on the 89 harness that i dont know were they go and on the car i got to firgue out how to wire the harness in so that all my gauges work...how does yours get from the engine harness to the dash? the 92 just plugs into the ecm on one end and the other plugs into the firewall on the drivers side. on the 89 harness it looks like it plugs into the ecm and doesnt go into the firewall at all.thanks

it is two harneses in one that is all taped up and put into one big loom. you will have to cut the loom and tape.

when you do this, the two harneses will come apart, but it will just be a bunch of loose wires. you will have to trace all the wires down and untangle them. move all your wires that go to the drivers side firewall and then the engine harness will come right out.

if you have a chilton's or hayne's manual you should be able to figure out every wire in the car by looking at the wiring diagrams. just look at the color of the wire and then find the same color wire in the manual. this will help you out some to know what wires are what.
