Vette LT1 and 4l60e crossmember
Vette LT1 and 4l60e crossmember
Ok, I am putting a 94 vette Lt1 and 4l60e into an 89 firebird, and I can't find any information on what to use as a trans crossmember for this swap. the transmission mounting holes are in a completely different place on the vette 4l60e than they are on my 700r4, I was wondering if anyone has done a similar swap before...and what they used.
I may just end up going to a steel fabrication shop and have them fab something for me.

I did...'94 Vette Lt1 and T56(same mounting holes I believe as the 4l60e). I bought a Spohn one and although the construction is nice....the holes mounting it to the frame of the car didn't line up at all. I'm not a Spohn guy at all after a few fitment problems with his parts. There are other options out there. Try a search in the Trans forum here and I'm sure you'll come up with something. How about some pics of the progress by the way.

I would just swap the 700's tailshaft onto the 4L60E and reuse your old crossmember, everything should bolt up. Just remember if you do that, you have to move the speedo gear up the the hole on the output shaft that is closest to the trans.
