hi there, i'd like some info for a swap i would like to do...
put a 2.8 or 3.1 v6 in a 86 Chevette.
I think i can find an 2.8 fuel inject with the trans of a firebird... wires still in, at my friend junkyard. The thing is, i'm not sure how the beast run and if i can fit the efi stuff in the chevette, i know carbed 2.8 fits nicely. Efi would rocks. i would be my winterbeater.
BUT! i could get a wealthy 3.1 from my cavalier RS 91, (body is soooo rusty anyway) it's fwd, does the RWD tranny that go on the camaro and firebird bolt on this engine or is the block different? also does a camaro intake (the throttle body is in front in the middle, while the darn cavalier is on the side), would fit that 3.1L block?
What are my option for tranny on a 2.8? and what about that 3.1 if its different, i want to know wich rear wheel drive tranny fits...

the swap have been done by alot of ppl, some event put v8 350 in that little bug that weight half a firebird.
I just found out the engine and tranny out of the junked firebird i was looking at run great... so i'll see if i can do the swap at my friend place, then the da*m thing will move faster than my T/A.
