Custom Built Stand Alone LS1 Harnesses
Custom Built Stand Alone LS1 Harnesses
Hey I saw this on Craiglist from back home and so I thought I would post it. I know wiring harnesses are really expensive for the lsx swaps so maybe this guy can help you out.
I am not sure if this is allowed so if it isn't I apologize. Just trying to help you guys save some money.
I can modify your engine harness for a standalone operation for street rods, engine swaps, or just whatever you want to install any GM 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0, 6.2, or 7.0 engine. I can also do vortec 4.3's, 5.7's and 7.4 Bigblocks. I can custom taylor the harness for your application, removing emissions, rear O2's, and transmission functions, if you are using an older non computer controlled trans, or 4/5/6 speed. I have also master the "Plug and Play" swap harness for older GM C/K trucks (96-98). you will be able to, literally be able to plug it in to your factory connections and everything will function as factory (the temp sensor does not work though. haven't found a way to make the newer LS style ECU's talk to the body control module to send the right signal to the gauge). I can offer tuning services to remove VATS, rear O2's, and adjust shift points, fan turn on times, and change the tach output to give you a V8 signal (gives 4cyl signal factory), and plenty of other options. I can do both drive by wire and drive by cable setups. I can also source harnesses if you do not have one to modify. just shoot me an email with questions.
Let me know, how I can build a custom harness for you! All connections are soldered and shrink wrapped, and all harnesses are loomed with factory split-loom and use GM harness tape.
Every harness is customized to the customers specs.
Prices start at 175 for a basic standalone that will control engine and trans. We go from there depending what you would like, from extending wires to put the ecu where you choose
and adding fuse blocks and relays. The list is endless.
I have over 3 years doing this with many references across the US. I am also a member of ls1tech.com under the name Chrome_Rust.
Shoot me an email, detailing what you have, what it is going into, what your goals are and time frame for the build. I will send back a list detailing what I am going to, price for all parts involved and a time frame to complete your harness. I also stock harnesses if you do not have one. Prices are 150 for a standard truck harness.

Re: Custom Built Stand Alone LS1 Harnesses
Stand alone harnesses arent really useful to the majority of 3rd gen swaps because so many features of the original EFI system are still present and functional. To use a stand alone harness one must either (1 cut alot of wiring out and splice a significant amount for control and feedback (2 tuck the wad of excess wiring somewhere and track down only the necessary splices
Older cars are mostly carb only and have very little wiring from the factory, so a stand alone system is desirable
In a nut shell, 82-87 carb, CFI and full racecars benefit from a stand alone harness. 85-92 EFI cars work best with a fully integrated harness which outside of DIY are very hard to come by and expensive when you do find them, primarily because of the extensive time put into them
From personal experience building nearly 200 harnesses, I can say the $175 job posted is not something that would appeal to most 3rd gens, mostly due to the shape of stock harnesses. The amount of time it takes to reshape... say a truck harness would far exceed his price. Only cost effective method would be to pull out and tag the necessary pins from the body connectors, add a fuseblock, relay center and ALDL, then leave the rest of the harness stock
If you need a stand alone harness, try something like this or build your own
