305 to 350 crate

Am I able to switch from a 305 to 350 and still be "legal" under California Smog Laws?

Provided the motor is the same year or newer, and you keep all the smog accessories, catalytic converter, and emmisions equipment. But then again, if your going with a crate motor, its probably designed for an earlier car than yours.

There's no reason a fresh 350 shouldn't run as clean as a 22-year-old 305. So, you don't need to worry about the sniffer.

Externally, a 350 looks no different than a 305 (assuming you take off the "350" decals from the crate valve covers). The inspector would have to be extremely suspecious and/or extremely **** to check casting #'s on the block - especially on a 22-year-old car. If that happens, take it to the referee and have it smogged as an '82 Vette.

Thanks for the replies!

So the only thing I would have to do to this car for the 350 to work is to change the Injectors to the 350 Injectors from the Corvette, 4-speed tranny and a Vette Computer? If i'm right, the exhaust and smog system will work. Correct me if i'm wrong.

That particular induction setup is not very well documented in the area of modifications (such as a displacement increase). But, what you said should be true.
