Hi all, I hope this thread has not been posted in the past, if it has sorry..

I have an 89 firebird with the 2.8, it has 290,000 kms on it and it is getting tired. Automatic with OD.

I am looking for a replacement 3.4L for the beast seeing as it is a commuter car and I figure the difference in power will be just enough to make it worth my time.

What I am wondering is a few things I hope you guys can help me with.

For those of us who are in Canada or have delt with this kind of a task where would you go in the British Columbia area to locate such an engine? I am already lurking in local junkyards for mid 90's camaros and firebirds.

I have read a few threads about the actual swap, it seems quite simple.

If you have any information that is not already here in the forum that would be useful, I would really appreciate it.

Either new, used or rebuilt does not matter to me,

93-95 f-bodies. SOme 95s came w/3.8s too. Also check out the V6 board, as we usually tip off people when a 3.4 is for sale.

edit: for those wondering about the sig,
L32=3.4
L36= 3800 Series II

 

I don't know how much you are willing to pay, but I picked up a new 3.4 crate motor from my dealer for about $1700.00.

 

or if you wait some, I'm not gonna need my drivetrain in a couple months
