I am also changing my singe exhaust to dual, i guess this would be a good time to do that too So if anyone has made the swap ( preferably in the berlinetta) can you pleeeeeeaaaasssseeeee help me out here. I know all the third gens are the same chassis, but are the mounts the same or will i have to get new ones? drill more holes? change wiring harnesses? please help me out, im Almost ready to make the swap

thanks:lala:

It sounds like you need to do a little research, actually a lot of research, before you attempt this swap...start searching is my advice

If you live a state with strick emmison laws that might be somthing to think about. Anouther thing i was thinking... was all the wiring, rear end gears and Proper routing And mounting for the smog pump An are you going to stay with a computer? What about ignition? Im jus throwing ideas out there. Be cool an good luck.

You just need one part: a complete donor car that came from the factory with a V8.

Rear end gears are one thing you don't have to change. Everything between the radiator & driveshaft has to change, however. Having a V8 already is nothing - the details will kill you.

You couldn't have searched very hard. It comes up every few weeks. Unless this car has some sentimental value, sell it and buy a factory V8 car - put your 350 in it. If it's your first car, dearly departed granny's car that you inherited, or something of that nature, then go out and find a V8 donor car and have them side-by-side; take a bunch of pictures of both before you start taking anything off.

Oh, a couple of other things:
Keep the donor car close in year model to yours, also best to keep it a Camaro.
And, a frontal lobotomy isn't a bad idea to help you cope with the project once you get started on it.

(In case you're wondering, I found thirdgen.org about 6 months after I completed mine.)

I think it also depends on what kinda v8 you want to put in, like the old style, carbed , no computer, no emissions would be a hell of alot easier than a fuel injected settup would be to put in..

350 swap into an 83

What kinda trans do you have on your 83? (I forget stuff...) I'm looking to swap a 350 into my 83 too, but I have a manual with a non-hydaulic clutch and I've been told that I can't put headers on the new engine unless I switch to a hydraulic clutch set-up. I know this doesn't help your 6 cylinder to 8 cylinder dillema, but maybe it'll avoid some tool throwing and vulgarity in the future.
