Carb to TBI engine swap, what wires do I use?

Hi guys,
Im new to this site, but after much looking around Iv found it to be one of the most informative on the web. I searched both the engine swapping and elictrical fourms but had no luck, so heres my question. I have allready swapped in a TBI 350 from my 1990 donor vehicle. I have pulled the wiring harness and computer and separated the wires so that I can get to any of them without any problems. Now I Need to know what wires I need to use so that my new motor will run like it did before. I have changed lots or motors but have never worked on any computer controled vehicles, and now to make it worse the guy thats helping me, is not sure what needs wires go where. Im not worried about anything but getting the engine to start and run. Iv allready changed the fuel pump and lines but now Im at a standstill.
The wires and computer are just sitting in my garage and Im in the dog house because this was supposed to take a "couple of days" three weeks ago. Any Info or links will be greatly appriciated and if your in my area and I can help you out, just let me know.

What model vehicle is this 90? I hope it's not an F-body since all F-body TBI engines are 305s. Did you check on the rear of the block to see if it is stamped 5.0 or 5.7. Check out the attached image. You may have just swapped in a 305.

no its not an F body, the donor vehicle is a 1990 K2500 Suburban. I chaose to post here because the members of this site seem to really know what they are talking about and the engine and electronics are similar.

I doubt anyone is going to be able to help without knowing exactly what both of the vehicles are involved in the swap. Even then they would have to have wiring diagrams on both vehicles.

Your best bet, but defiantely not going to be cheap is to get a helms manual on the vehicle the engine was removed from, and then try to duplicate the setup on the vehicle its being swaped to.

You might just want to throw a carb manifold, old style of HEI distributor, and a carb on top of the motor for now. Even though TBI is simpler than most forms of Fuel injection, its still pretty complex.

I really appreciate the responces The vehicles are almost identical other than an age difference. The donor is a 1990 K2500 the "paitent" is my 1977K10(1981 Cab and wiring) I had nothin but problems out of the old carb, even after the new heads and gasket job I put on it. A carb would cost me more than all the little things id have to buy for this swap. Then I still got Poor econnomy, low power , the 77 makes about 180 stock, and then all those cold starts. I had the 90 sub, just sitting there, and trying to get it to pass inspection would have been a bigger problem than this, and more costly. Now I scrap the Sub, and sell the 77 350 then come out with money in my pocket. Sub needed new exhaust, tires, paint and body the works.

More than annythin I need to know what wires are Power, Gorund, Ignition, Fuel pump and Starter. If I get these hooked up the ignition and hook up all the accesories, the comp shouldnt know its not in the sub anymore and just run Like it did in the sub. Right?

I hate to have to buy a 30$ book now that all i have left is 4 or 5 wires. Thanks again any info or links will really help me out. :hail:

The camaro and firebird harness will not be the same as a truck, so I doubt anyone here will be of much help. You need a haynes manual for the donor vehicle. Sounds like your carb was out of tune, belive me TBI isn't a performance setup and isn't all that great on gas. I would have bought a better carb.
