305 to 350, is it that much better than the LT1

alright guys, i'm starting to get realy overwelmed with all the stuff required for me to be able to do the Lt1 swap. i wanna know if there is a way for me to do the regular 1st generation 350 swap, with my TPI manifold, and still get around the same power. What would be required for me to pull 275HP from the 350 enigne? Is there anyway to do this without the expensive Supercharger. The 350 swap since it uses the same materials as the 305 would be a pretty easy thing to just bolt right into the engine bay.

One more thing, would i need to get a new PCM for the 350, or can i use the one form my 305 still. I found the block for $650 at a store in southern florida.

I know that a lot of people in the boards and in general have done the 350 swap so tlel me all the stuff that wont work from my 305 TPI, and what will work. I can get whatever yoju guys tell me, if it may be cam swap to get more power or whatever.

There isn't anything from the 305 that "won't work" on the 350. The only questions are how well they will work, and whether they'll support 275 HP.

The answers are, "not as well as 350 parts", and "no".

To get 275, you're going to have to modify the TPI with aftermarket parts. The harness, plenum, and possibly the base will be all that you have left from the 305 (the ECM can be retained with a PROM change).

The MAF TPI system you have will handle the change to 350 fairly easily, but won't support 275 HP w/o power adder. Converting to SD means PROM tuning, but more HP can be supported.

You'd probably be better off looking for answers on the TPI board, if you haven't already.

Buy a new intake manifold. HSR or miniram or LT1 intake.

Ive got a buddy w/ a heads cam/intake 305...threw a rod..now if I swap out to a 350 bottom end (rather than a new 305 one) with those parts is it worth it..or just swap out an entire stock 350 and leave the 305 stuff.

It all depends upon what the 305 was, and what the 350 is.
