How much base timing should I run on my new motor?

I'm about finished with my project and I just wanted to get a little advise.

First, This motor has not been fired at all since its build. The big mark on the balancer is in line with the mark on the timing cover, and the rotor is facing the #1 cylinder. So I assume I can set the timing on it now? My friend said we could disable the injectors and get the timing close using the gun that way before we try and really start it again using the gun. What do you suggest I do?

Second, What do you think I should have base timing set at with my motor?

Third, Can sombody tell me if my vaccum routing is good, and I'm running a Speed Density setup?

Brake Booster: It has its own dedicated line to the back of the intake

Heater Source: It has its own dedicated line to the pass. side of the intake

MAP & Fuel Pressure Regulator: I have these "t" together going to the pass. side of the intake

Vacuum Resivour: This is that vacuum ball, I have that on its own dedicated line going to the bottom of the throttle body where the EGR used to go since the miniram doesn't have EGR

CCV: Thats the plug on the passenger valve cover going to the side of the throttle body, I'm now running a valve cover breather in its place.

PCV: I am running a dedicated line to the side of the throttle body where the CCV line used to go

Charcoal canister: I am running this one also to the side of the throttle body in the factory location.

My miniram was an old design so I was missing some vacuum ports and had to make due with what I had. So how does it look and does anybody forsee any problems with the way I ran it? I don't have cruise control so is there any connections I missed?

Thanks

Maybe I read your post wrong, but you can't set the timing untill you get the engine running. If you have the mods in your sig I'd start around 10 degrees and adjust it from there. Since you are running FI you will have to disable the ECM to set the timing which you probably already knew. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Personally I'd start at 6 and go up from there if need be once its broken in and running correctly.

As for setting it with injectors disconnected, I wouldn't. Just fire the thing up and set the timing. Watch your temp gauge too

all you need is to have it fire and run long enough to set it, like max i'd try around 6* after it's running.

For those that live in California they check the base timing during the smog check. Mine was at 6 degrees and passed. I don't know what other states do. Allen

Great, thanks for the responce guys. I will work my way from 6 degrees base timing and go from there.

Can anybody answer my 3rd question about my vacuum hose routing. Does that look like I hooked up everything up correct?

Thanks
