Good Deal on 350???
Thinking about swapping in a 350 for my 305. Saw this motor on http://www.suburbanimports.com.au/motors.htm and seems like a pretty good deal. Details on the site are as follows:
CHEV 350 - Reconditioned 375HP Vortec 4Bolt MotorChev 350 reco 96-00 4 bolt motor has new standard block, new crank, vortec 64cc heads, flat top pistons and HV oil pump, new sump, new timing cover, new HO cam, comes with new alloy performance intake. Cost AU$3700 #155E. 12 months guarantee.
Seems like a pretty good deal, about US$2800 for 375HP.
I have a 83TA, 305 with a TH350 and 2500 stall (was T5).
So... my questions are...
1) What else will i need to change (i.e bolt on accessories such as stater motor etc) , bearing in mind that I have already changed the exhaust with hedders and 2.5-inch single muffler system. Also have a re-built Q-Jet which i'm assuming i can re-use, maybe with a bit of re-jetting? Maybe run dual snorkel?
2) Seeing as i'm running a 2500 stall, would it be worth changing the cam to suit a 2500-6000 rpm range? How much would this cost?
3) Can the stock 3.7 diff hold up to this sort of power?
4) How much would you expect to pay for my mechanic to do the swap for me?
5) What do you think it would pull down the quarter mile?
