cross fire 305 to a carb 350
Really easy if you're good with tools and have decent mechanical ability. Really difficult if you're a retard. Time consuming either way.
You'll need a 350, carb, non-computer distributor, and wiring diagram so you know which wires to cut and which ones to keep.
If the car has a TH200C trans, you'll want to replace that with a TH350 or TH700R4.

If you just do a regular carb (non-computer controlled) all you need is a 12 volt keyed wire to your HEI power terminal, ground and 12 volt keyed to the choke, and your starter & alternator wiring. That will at least get it running & driving. The only other thing you may want to add are gauge senders, and wiring for AC if you have it.

Yes. Provided that the 350 carb motor is the same year or newer than the chassis in which it is installed, and all of the emissions related components are swapped along with the motor (canister, cat, EGR, computer, ect.).

No, as long as the engine is from a newer car, with all emissions equipment intact it is still legal. It is the engine that must meet a specific emissions test, not the chassis.

Car: 82 trans am
Engine: 305 crossfire injection
Transmission: 3spd auto
Thanks for the replies TKO and Kevin.
I have an 82 TA crossfire and have been wanting to slam a 350 in it. Last weekend I found an 85 Suburban 350cid, Edelbrock Carb with a 4-spd AT for $800. I'd like to use that Edelbrock Carb since it's 1 month old compared to the CFI intake that's 21 yrs old. Would I gain more than I would with the Carb than the CFI?

The CFI computer won't know how to manage the carb, so it won't be happy. You'll need to either swap in the Suburban's computer and wiring, or go non-computer in which case you'll have trouble passing emission testing. If you go non-computer you'll need some way to manage the transmission's torque converter clutch lockup, there are manual harnesses out there.
The Suburban's cam is probably crap, I'd swap it while the engine's out.
