Want to swap engines

I have a 91firebird with a 305TBI and it is just way to slow for me. I dont know to much about being computer friendly with the car so i just want a carburated engine. I have a 355 (out of a 70's Chevy truck) and i wanted to know if i could still pass emissions with a carburated engine. Also could i still use my transmission (700r4) or would i need a TH350 or something like that. Please let me know what will work. THANKS

the 700r4 trans will work. i highly doubt that you can pass emissions with a 350 carburated engine. but i dont know hardly anything about emissions.

I dont know anything about emissions either, but one person told me i could pass as long as i had the cats on, but another person told me i wouldn't pass no matter what.

if you keep the cam reasonable, keep the EGR and cats, you'll probly have to lean out the carb just for testing, but it'll pass...

i wouldnt drive it around like that, but you will probly have to be a lil lean to blow "clean" enough to pass... depends on the requirements though.

i know in Mass when i was younger, my dad had to swap out jets on his weber on a diff car to pass.... the car ran like ****, but it would pass, he'd get his sticker, and after going around the corner, hed swap back to "normal" and the car would run great again...

It depends on where you are. Different states have different rules. Even different counties and different cities have different rules in some states. It positively WILL NOT pass in California for example; but you may be able to squeeze it through in some other places.

Research your local emissions laws VER CAREFULLY before you spend any significant money or make any changes that would be very difficult for you to change back.
