LT1 swap with a carb?

Is it possible to put an LT1 block in like its a regular 350. I have a 305 with a Q-Jet. Would it need a whole new wiring harness and a lot of mods to get it in if I don't get fuel injection?

Yes just get the GMPP carb'd LT1 intake, if you want a/c you'll have to do the normal modifications of course, or modify a serpentine from an 88-92 to work, or run vette accessories.

Starter is in the same spot, alternator is in same spot if you have an early car which i'd bet you do, sounds like all the wiring you've got

So would it really be any benefit to get an LT1 over a standard 350?

Yes you probably have a 305 now, and you'd get the extra cubic inches, along with a much better set of heads, just depends on how much you pay for it.

Unless you're getting it for really cheap, it would be easier/cheaper to build a budget carbed 350 with Vortec heads which would match/beat the power output of the carbed LT1...

Yes, unless you are getting it for a steal I would go with a traditional 350 carbed setup. The LT1 is just not worth it without the fuel injection. Thats just my $.02 though.
