Stealth Ram Intake

I've got a 305 TBI setup in my Camaro now but i'm putting a 383 w/a Stealth Ram Intake in, and was curious if anyone knew if i need to get different fuel lines to the intake or if the TBI lines work....and also will i still have hood clearance?

the HSR has a special fuel rail u need to buy... u can just buy the rail or u can buy the rail with the AFPR id get the one with the afpr. u will need a new pump i think... u will need a chip and harness for it all...throttle body too. if it's TBI wouldent it be easier to just go carb?

Will the stock fuel rails off a tpi car work with the HSR?

Ok This is what you need to get:

As Twilightoptics had said new fuel lines (if you do any dragrace at all find somewhere local that will make Braided steal lines for you) The fuel Rails from HSR. New Injecters would be good as well.

I dont know about the new computer a Computer CHIP maybe but I dont think a new computer. Same with the wireharness I dont think you need one.

My husband just installed one on my 87 Iroc-z & it works fine. Clearance under the hood is even alright.

If you have any qestions go to www.stealthram.com They can answer all your questions.

Sorry Krazy, you need to know your stuff a little better. TBI computer/harness is NOTHING like the TPI harness. If he had TPI then he could use the harness, computer, injectors, etc.

I am sorry I must have read it wrong or was thinking about my TPI camaro which just waiting on a new chip & the other stuff to be compleated on it.

Yes Paul is right you do need a new harness & the right type of Injectors. The ECM chip you will need for sure.

Remember the HSR does not have connections for the EGR system so if you have to Pass Emissions you might have to not do it or be careful & do some rigging to get it to pass Emissions.

Thanks Paul for catching that.

My husband says good luck & enjoy.

If your state checks for NOx then you might need EGR, if not, then the EGR is useless. Thank goodness for WA. Atleast my county.

Heh told your husband you'd need a chip. With heads and a cam, I could barely get out of the driveway!

How do you mount the rails? The HSR has side mounts for the rails, the TPI rail mounts vertically down against the manifold, youd have to drill right through the fuel passage of the TPI rail to bolt it to the HSR. Also, the rail assembly isnt physically big enough to fit around the HSR base, and the TPI regulator is mounted in the middle of the assembly, right where it needs to go 'around' the base. Id be interested to see how you made the stock setup work. Any pics?

Don't be cheap, buy the HSR fuel rails with adjustable regulator.

I see no way to mount/use the TPI fuel rails.

I only ment the rails on top of the injectors and the grinding must be done on the HSR and the rails. I wouldn't go this way unless you like experementing. The fuel feed must be custom made.

I'll get pics as soon as i get the engine ready (looooong time)

Here's a HSR with TPI fuel rails. They fit fine if you grind HSR base plate just a little. Also fuel rails have to be modified but if you got time and beer, theres no problem .

Fuel regulator is edelbrock #1728.

That is not the stock rail setup, merely the rails themselves; you cant just take the stock setup off the TPI and bolt it on the HSR. With enough time and money you can make pretty much anything work, its up to the user to decide if its worth the time and effort. The regulator you listed sells for $150, youre looking at another $50 for line and fittings. Thats getting close to the adjustable Holley setup, but to each their own.
