Stng Klr : I'm not sure what you mean by" gutted" but I do have K&N filters.
92-tpi -z : Yes this is with cam. It is a mild cam due to my need for the car to behave well in heavy NYC traffic. Stock motors dyno around 300 hp at wheel. The car is very quick on the street. So to tell the truth I was a little suprized at the low numbers. Others that know the car were suprized too. I would like to take it to the track and find out how quick. But without a roll bar I don't think they would let me run.

89ragtop...
what is the specs for the cam in your ls1? my car is at bruces right now and im putting a ls1 m6 with a cam with 228,232 dur@.050 and 572,572 lift. i am also porting the stock 01 manifolds. running no cats and slp exhaust. and we are looking between 375 to 400 at the wheels....i guess its cause the cam i have is a little bigger. .but im interested to know your specs of the cam. thanks michael

Don't worry, just tell Bruce what you want the car to do and he will take of the rest. I told him hp. was not as important as driveabilty to me. The car he made me is perfectly tailored to my needs. FYI my cam is a comp cam xr265hr-15 highlift. lift 558/563, dur 212/218 ,lobe sep 115. The only thing I over ruled him on was my rear gear. He wanted to put in 410 and I wanted 373. He was right, I have 373 and it would be better with a 410 gear. The lesson I learned is don't try to second guess him. His judgement is part of what you are paying for.

89rsragtop-
yeah i know what you mean...me and bruce have been good friends for about 2-3 years. so i know that bruce is doing all the right stuff and is taking care of my car. i suggest stuff i want to do and he says what he thinks about it. and i have gone with him all the way. i can count on him to tell me what is best. for ex. i wanted the tubular k-member he sells but he didnt advise it for every day use so i used the stock k- member. i agree with everything you say. on another note this was a great post on the DIY ls1 swap. congrats on getting everything finished

yeah that is funny.. he told me that the ride would be supppper rough and bumpy and would be uncomfortable for every day driving. he said it was unpractical. i mean the only person that i know that is using it is him in his car.niel his co-worker that has the white camaro with the firehawk wheels still has the stock k member. i guess it really depends on the person. i was wanting to do it because it really didnt mater to me but he suggested that i hold out on it. so as i said above i was taking all of his advise. have you instaled the k member yet cause i would be interested in what you think about it.

No , I haven't yet. I bought it because I wanted something to clear the A/C compressor but there might be an issue with the stock steering hitting the A/C compressor and the alternator using the tubular k-member because the motor sits 2 inches too low in the tubulark-member.This thing cost me 500.00! I'm still waiting to do the swap because I haven't purchased everything I need yet. The more I read about this tubular k-member, the more uneasy I feel about it

When I talked to Bruce about the tube cross member He said it was ok for the street. But I didn't need it for my use. I think he most likley recommends it to the guys that race and worry about car's weight. Also guys that can't refab the stock member to work with LS1 and A/C.

I could absolutely care less about the ride quality , I'm not trying to badmouth Bruce here ,either. I just want to make sure this is gonna hold up. Replacing it will be a PITA and I don't want to have to do that more than the first time. I guess time will tell and he promised he will make it right if there's an issue . I've spent 2600.00 in parts from him alone and still don't have everything I need to buy from Hawk's yet.
yeah i totaly understand.....after i get done i will have 9000.00 wraped up in my project....all i can say is listen to him..if he tells you one thing go with what he says ..he deff. knows what he is talking about. he wont steer you in the wrong direction.

Not to get off topic but has anyone looked into relocating the coil packs? I have some tall billet valve covers on the way and need to know where I can even start to looking for room after the LS1 is installed. Is there room behind the engine on the firewall or any place in the firewall area?
Burn...no problem check Agostino racing for there relocate kit!
But get some infos you might not have thought about :
The new LS2 enginge gets better coils, GM was not amused with the LS1 poweroutput of the ls1 coils!
The "long" spak plug cables are no power opter...we might see a debate about that soon!
MSD is selling a box for the LS1 but this is for the LS1 Carb intake users....i guess if you wait a bit the Jacobs,Holley and all othe Ignition companies will jump on this topic!
Our concern is the heat the coils are getting up there!
Thats why we thought of removing them "up" there to a cooler loacation with a bracket....
Some of our "Brainers" will be to monitor some readings in different engine locations and of different engine parts for how hot the parts are getting.

forgot our thread BUrn ...just in case you like different stuff!
Our approach will remove the altenator, waterpump and strg pump and yes a better Fuelrail and spark solution...dont expect this to be a fast swap but a intressting german version haahah
