Machine work cost
What are the typical costs of having the machine work done on a SBC to prep it for a new bottom end.

Well, it depends what you are built it up to be. You want a line hone? Clearenced for a 383 crank?? Mag'd? bearings? New rod bolts? It all depends what you need done and how much you want to go over on your bores or just a hone. Also, if you need the head milled, and other stupid junk. May i also ad, make sure you ask around for the most reputable, it may cost a few more, but in the long run, a built engine will last longer.
depends on where you live too, look in the yellow pages and call shops in your area for prices. at a minimun i figure 300-400 and i do a good bit of the work myself that lot of people pay shops for.
