Hey everyone im looking to do a succesful engine swap I have a 1987 v6 2.8L firebird right now and planning to buy a small block chevy 305 or a donor car swap still undecided and 700r4 tranny this will be ok if i swap out the 2.8L and put in the 305 V8 engine,computer wiring harness,700r4 tranny new suspension will this be ok to do?

 

i assume you have the 2.8 in now in order to do a v8 swap you will need to buy V8 motor mounts and V8 tranny. the 700R4 will be fine behind the 305. but you should think about getting a 350 instead of the 305 you will be much happier in the long run. as for the computer and everthing it will be much easier if you make it carbed and cheaper. but if FI is the way you want to go then you will have to find the FI setup and a new harrness for the V8 and computer and rip out your 2.8 computer and harrness. good luck and let us now how it goes

Except factory V8 donor car is about the only sane way to go about this. That never changes.

 

well im pretty sure ill be safe with the tranny and the whole engine and components for now
