2.8L FI to 305 4 Brrl Carb
ok I have a few questions, i dont know a **** load about cars so gimme a break. Me and my friend and his uncle are going to swap my v6 out of my camaro and i was just wondering since we are going carb what all parts would i need.....im pretty positive my car is completely stock. the 700r4 will be fine for the 305 right? also we are taking it out of a 85 van so ill have lots of parts that i could use so everything i need should be on the van right?....also can we cut and reweld my pipes to fit on the v8 or would it take too much work and just be easier to go to muffler shop and get "dual" exhaust? and his uncle is really really good with cars he has a 72 nova with a chromed out 350 and my friend has a 66 mustang with a 351 windsor in it and he goes to vocationial school for automachanics could us 3 get this motor swapped in 1 week of working from like 4 pm - 12 pm, we already have the 305 pulled but the v6 is still in my car, i have no clue how long this might take

Welcome aboard.
It comes up several times a week it seems. Best way to approach this is with a factory V8 equiped donor car.
No, you can't use the transmission or exhaust from the V6.
A search through previous posts on the topic will reveal the reasons why.

ok well we do have a donor car, but the transmission from the van would NEVER fit in a camaro lol so the 700r4 wont bolt up to a v8...? i thougth that the 700r4 where in the z28s and irocs with 305's and 350's in them? do they not have teh same bolt pattern as a 305?

The V6 is a different angle block than the 305 and 350 V8. The bellhousing is smaller on the v6 700R4. You have to have a V8 700R4. Both V6 and V8 cars have 700r4. They just have different bellhousings.

Yes I saw what five seven kid put riley but I looking in all of the v6 forum and i didn't find any detailed information about the tranmission from the FI V6 being swapped in with a V8. Thanks for telling me about the bellhousing and stuff though.

The tranny problem isnt really tough...if you hve a u-pullit like jy, just go there often, you will find what you need. A th350 can also be used, you just need a kit to mount the torque arm www.summitracing has the forI think $75. I'v bought 3 700r 4s first 2 cost me 35.oo, Ifried the first one bought one with transgo parts for $400. I dont expect it to last long behind the 406. the neext will be a th4oo...good luck..and dont forget the detent cable is a must!
