Strange Vibration after new engine install!!!

Ok well first off, I seem to be experiancing vibrations from somewhere I have ideas to what it could be. So I need some other ideas.

Ok I just recently dropped a 76 350 block in my car, still has tpi, changed cams, bigger cam, forged pistons, ported and polished heads.

Well when I had to get a flywheel I had to use a flywheel off a 85 305 camaro. Well I don't know if its the Flywheel or not thats causing it. Could it just be the cam is bigger, or something. It has the orginal prom for the 305 that I had in it, and I haven't recieved my new prom yet that I had custom burned to my engines specs, so maybe its just the rough idle or something I really don't know, but the car has a vibration that is fairly noticeable, but doesn't really vibrate bad when at higher RPMs. Any ideas??????If you have an idea drop me a note, thanks guys!!!!!

Tyler

Shouldn't be anything about the fact that it's an '85 flywheel that could cause vibration. Loose stuff is a different story.

Did you replace the clutch or any components?

Is your alternator loose? (There's a story behind that.)

You didn't really describe the vibration, other than it isn't as bad at high RPMs. Are you sure it's firing on all cylinders?

If the flywheel is lighter or heavier than the orig. it could throw off the balance of the engine (causing vibrations). Atleast this is what I was told..

SBC's are neutral balance(with a few exeptions, 400, 86 up 1 piece RMS), flywheel wieght should have nothing to do with vibrations, unless combo is stroker w/balancing done w/flywheel/damper.....i.e, external balance

The 305 had a different heavier harmonic balancer in the front. Assuming they maintain a zero balance then the flywheel would have to be heavier.

Does the engine virbrate excessively in nuteral? it's possible the flywheel itself is out of balance.

Not true. The balance isn't front-to-rear.
