hi all i just had the 305 put in from a 2.8 v6 now there is a wiring harness on the 305 with the plug that goes on the firewall it looks like its still all wired up now should i just be able to unplug my old harness and plug in the 1 for the 305?? the 305 was out of another camaro but it is a diff year should it matter??if so damn itll save alot of time..

when i did my swap from a 3.1 to a 350 i used a 305 tbi harness from a 1989 camaro. Anyway i had to look up wiring diagrams for the connector from a 1992 camaro 3.1 (my year) and look up the diagram for a 1989 305 tbi and see what pins each represented such as ground, interior lights and so on and then just move the pins in cordination to where they are suppose to be on your year car. To move the pins on the connector that attaches to the firewall you just pull the white clip out of the side and yank on the wire that needs to be moved and it'll come out. then just put it in the right place.
Thats how i did mine. However i would also like to know what year wiring harness are interchangable as in plug in play. Are all 91 to 92 harness the same? if anyone could shed some light it would be gladly appriated. (if you need pics of my harness i can get them)
