LT1 wiring harness ?

my brother has a 97 LT1 that came out of a z28 that i might buy from him and i was wondering what wirring harnesses i need for it to run. i know he has the computer and the harness with everything that conects to the engine. is that the same one that hooks up to the computer or is there another one that goes behind the dash or something? i just can't remember what harnesses it had when we pulled it and what i would need to go into my 84.

its pretty much a plug in deal, right? i should just need everything like the O2 sensors, injectors, ect, plugged into the original harness then plug it into the computer and it will run, right?

i'm also guessing i should be able to use my existing starter wires, right?

the cheapest way is to use a 94-95 PCM as it is OBD I .. 96-97 are OBD II and are more expensive to program. an OBDII harness will work fine on an OBDI .. but not the other way around. OBD1 only has 2 O2 sensors and no crank pos sensor.. and you have to buy a knock sensor for an OBDI LT1 . I have a 96 engine and am using a 96 harness with a 94 pcm.. all ok so far.. waiting on my cable to program vats etc out of the computer.

If you go that route....buy an lt4 knock sensor. They are supposed to be less sensitive to false knock/ping. It is suposed to be more hp at full throttle as a result.

Only if you are seeing knock at high rpm. If not, it won't help.

There is always knock...it is just less sensitive to it....that means more hp.
