found this on e-bay and I thought it was interesting. I think i read some where that the LT-1s that were put in cruisers where not 350s, but something smaller.
ether way if the engine that is in the car is a 350 LT-1 that is a great find. and real good for a swap into a 3rd gen.

some cars did get the "baby" LT-1 motors, I think around 286 cid (I THINK). it shouldn't be hard to tell, just get the casting numbers off the motor. they are on the passenger side of the bellhousing on these motors.

The caprices could have had either a 5.7 or 4.3L LT1 style engine. The 5.7L is similar to an F-body LT1, with basically two exceptions: Iron heads, and a smaller cam. The smaller cam is easy to change, and the Iron heads are actually a plus, out of the box, they flow better than the aluminum F-body ones, though with a weight penalty.

heres a link that breaks down LT1's:

262 or 265 or something like that was the smaller "baby LT1"

thanks for the replys,
its a moot point for me anyway. the bidding is over, and well, I am not ready at this point to buy an LT-1 engine and rebuild it.

but $405 was a very good price, for everything under the hood to include the tranny, if it is a 5.7.
