putting the 327 in my car...
ok i am currently rebuilding a 327 out of a early 60's impala..its a small journal 327 block..
i got a set of 416 casting heads from friend of mine and am thinking of bolting them up..depends on the cam ect..
what needs to bolt up..the trans and the engine....what problems will there be with the 153t flywheel and the block not having the right holes for the starter?..
anyone who has done a small block engine swap..what else should i look out for?...

Be careful with the dipstick. Its causes problems, unless you have headers.
You will probably have to drill and tap a new hole in the block for your starter. I had to to make a '79 350 work.
If you are using a T5 with a mechanical clutch linkage, make sure there is a hole in the block, above the oil filter, for the ****.

I have a 64 Impala SS with a 327, im currently restoreing it but the engine is solid, I just wanted to ask you where did you get the engine and how much did it cost, the engine in my impala is a 327 crate but I paid 1500 for the whole car and the engine was brand new with like 50 Miles on it.

i got the short block on ebay for 150...the guy lived less than 5 miles from my house so i was able to see it before i bid and pick it up 15 mintues after the auction ended... the guy only put 2,000 miles on the engine but said it smoked...i bought the engine to build myself anyway...
the only reason the guy couldnt use the engine anymore was because it didnt have that hole. for the clutch cross bar..my t-5 has hydralic linkage..
ive got headers so i dont think that dipstick should be a problem..

ok what kind of water pump do i need...i read something about needing a short water pump because it was a early pre 70's block... and my car has a long style...
if i use the short style can i use all my pullies....i am planning on keeping the a/c, p/s and alternator....
what does the computer in my car actually control..im planning on getting that jet CCC upgrade because im keeping the a/c and need the idea to bump up when it goes on....i know it costs more but i wanna keep it stock looking..

You don't want the short style pump. If you use that, it won't fit to any of your accessories at all. The short pump is for cars older than about 1970 only, or race cars with purpose-built accessory arrangements.
You need the style that goes with your car's accesories, which is the long style. The stock 84 pump will work fine.
You'll probably need to have the late-model starter bolt hole drilled in the block.
Your existing flywheel and bell housing will bolt right up. The hydraulics will work fine.
Don't forget to put a SHORT bolt in the upper one of the 2 bolt holes on the right front of the block, between the timing cover and the fuel pump, with a little sealer on the threads.
The oil pan that's on it will not fit your chassis. You need the one out of a 70s 307, 305, 267, 350, or 400, out of a F, G, or A body. Not a truck one or a full-size car one. Must be one of those body styles.
The computer controls the fuel misture and the ignition timing; and a few other incidentals like EGR. It should require minor adjustments at most to tune it for the larger motor, as long as the cam isn't too radical.

Just a note on oil pans. I used a 78 350 truck motor with its stock oil pan for my mule motor while setting up scatter shield, headers, super t-10 etc.
