i own an '88 305 Tbi camaro and i want to swap to a 350 engine though. i wanted to know if someone knows how to go about putting in a carburated 350 what with the sensors and computer for the throttle body. i'd like to put in a fourbarrel carb but im concerned on what changes ill have to do on the electronics for the thing to work right. excuse my lack of knowledge but i also need to know if the 350 will fit and run right on my original 305 transmission and if any changes to the rear end would have to be done.
I'd appreciate some imput on these topics. Dave.

 

welcome, and I'm not trying to be rude or anything but there is a search button. as far as the engine and trans fitting in the car, it will work, I haven't done a swap involveing a carb (just tbi). hope this helps a little

 

I did exactly what you did. Even the same year car.

You need:
carb
carb intake manifold
fuel pressure regulator
vacuum advance hei distributor

and thats pretty much it. Plus odds and ends but there is a nice tech article about this swap.

You do not have to worry about the computer since it will no longer do anything.

And goingf from a 305 to a 350 is a direct swap. Nothing needed.

 

do you need to pass emissions? do you think the bare carb system can pass emissions? anybody else out there pass emissions with a non-computer carb 350?
