Yes, i paid for a new engine, which was supposively going to be a 355...yet, i noticed as i started to floor it, that the power was not as strong it seriously should have been. So i checked out the block number, yeah, they said 5.0 on it, now, the guy told me that on some blocks it might say 5.0 but it really is 5.7 liter, and im pretty sure that you can not boar a 305 out to a 355. So basically what i am asking here is, Can you boar a 305 out to a 355. Is it true that if it say's 5.0 that it really can be a 5.7 liter engine? Or, Is this guy seriously ****ing me over on 2200 dollars. Thanks alot. I need answers, ASAP.

Your right, you got screwed tommy. Oh Davey! Anyway you might want to check out the block casting number on the rear of the block behind the heads. That will truely tell you if its a 350 or 305.

 

Well i checked out the number and it said 5.0 which means its obviously a 305 block....i think he mightve said something about boaring it over to a 355 but i dont think thats possible but im for damn sure that it says 5.0 on it. i payed for a 355 and thats what i was told it was.....is it possible to boar it over that much????

 

no, about the biggest you can go with a 305 is 335, but I'm pretty sure that involves a stroker crank, you only pick up about 5 cubes for a .030 over bore. Largest you can bored a SBC is about .060 before the walls get too thin.
